Tiffany Bow So today I had employee orientation at my new job. So many times its just the same old thing, but Tiffany & Co.’s orientation had a new twist at the end. Everyone had to learn how to tie a Tiffany bow. I kid you not… So in case you ever want to tie one, here is how:
86|3
Hold box so that Tiffany & Co. appears vertically.
85|3
Cover the logo with ribbon and hold in center with thumb. Leave approximately a box length of ribbon at bottom of box.
84|3
Wrap the top half or “working end” of the ribbon around the box to your thumb. Hold both ribbons with your thumb.
83|3
Fold back top of ribbon at a 45 degree angle and wrap around side and back to thumb.
82|3
Tuck working end under and around both ribbons.
89|3
Tighten ends and center on box.
88|3
Make a loop with working end.
87|3
Wrap short end around loop and push through opening to form the second loop of the bow.
Tighten and adjust bow. Clip ribbon ends at a diagonal. Ribbon should not extend beyond the edge of the box

Oh no! Now the secret is out an EVERYONE will be tying tiffany bows. Now it will have to become a dinner dedicated to excellent blueberry pancakes instead of high margin jewelry.
these are awful instructions. You should post pictures and step by step instructions.
You’re a God send!! Believe it or not, my boss ordered twelve engraved silver trays from Tiffany’s as gifts for clients. When they arrived, each one in its gift box and white satin ribbon, he asked me to open them to be sure the engraving was correct. Easy enough assignment — but how do you get the bow back on the box in the same way it arrived? For the life of me I couldn’t figure it out so I called Tiffany’s direct and no one could help me — not even when I asked for someone in gift wrapping!!? I just by chance found your site — thanks to you, no one will ever know I opened each one! Thanks for saving the day!!!
Thankyou for having these instructions posted. I bought a ring for my girlfriend and wanted to look at it before I gave it to her. I thought it would not be hard to rewrap the box. I was wrong, but these instructions got me through it. Thanks again!
Thank you very much for posting these instructions, I bought my girlfriend a ring for Christmas and of course right as I was untying the bow I thought “I really shouldn’t have done that.” It took me a while to find this site, but once I did, it was pretty easy to get a reasonably good bow tied back on the box. My girlfriend wasn’t all that experienced with Tiffany jewelry anyway, but she loved it and did appreciate my extra effort. Thanks again, you’re a lifesaver.
Thanks.. like the poster above I bought my girlfriend a necklace and figured I’d take a peak. Much to my chagrin it wasn’t as easy to duplicate as I had expected. Thanks to this site I was able to reproduce the bow with minimal effort.
GOD BLESS YOU! Tiffany’s won’t tell how to tie their bows and I like to keep my boxes just as they were. (I swear, the box is almost as much fun as the contents.)
I would give you such a kiss if I could! X!
Thank you so much, you saved me!!!! My wedding band came in the mail from Tiffany’s while my fiance was out of town. I wanted to see what he had engraved inside of the ring so I opened the box. I was able to wrap the box but could not tie the bow. Thanks for the pictures and directions!
Thank you so much! I opened the box to show my sister before I gave my mother the gift and didn’t know how to tie it back up! This was a mother’s day lifesaver!
Sweet, your site completely saved me. I never knew a “simple bow” could leave a full grown man in shambles. Much like everyone else this is the second time I’ve opened the box and found myself struggling to get the freakin bow back to its original form. Thank you much!
You are a godsend for posting this..I unwaraped the bow to show my mother inlaw …and could not retie it
Thanks for this! We ordered a bunch of Tiffany’s stuff and needed to check it. Then the panic of trying to rety the bows…
Appreciate the help!
Oh my word! Thank you a thousand times over! I bought my husband a pair of cufflinks at Tiffany & Co. for Father’s Day. I wanted to show them to my friend and, naturally didn’t think about “the bow” until it was too late. Your directions and pictures saved me. Really, my husband could care less, I’m the neurotic one. Anyway, thanks!
same as every other guy….bought my gfriend a present and opened it up, like a fool, and couldn’t tie it back on.
Thanks!
I’m an actual TCO employee, but I a Security Professional. I never had to tie the bow. Thanks to this website, and of course watching it done a million times, I was able to do it. However, you should better the instructions to be more fluid it seems it almost skips steps. Thanks!
Thank you for posting these instructions. Beleive it or not, I worked as a temp for Tiffany’s many years ago and they didn’t teach me how to tie “the bow”. Anyway, I recently purchased a gift for my mom and my sister decided to take a peek and she couldn’t tie the box back up. So on the web I went and quickly found your site. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for posting this!! I have always wanted to know how Tiffany’s did it – being able to pull it open and it just falls apart so nicely – your directions are clear and so well written with such awesome pics too – thanks again!!!
I’ve all but jumped over Tiffany’s counter to get a closer look at how they tie that freakin’ bow. They always do it so fast I couldn’t figure the last couple of steps. Thanks to your directions I don’t have to try to bribe the sales people anymore!
Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same time old dilema – bought the present went to show someone – didn’t think about the bow until a second after i’d undone it!!
Many kisses and hugs!
I’ve just bought my girlfriend an item of tiffany jewelry through their website and I stupidly opened it on arrival to check it was OK. Thanks to you I can now make the gift look presentable again before giving it. Who’d've thought that tying a bow could be so much hassle?! Best wishes.
This rocks! A few years back, we brought some crystal Tiffany ornaments back from NYC and the airport guard made us unwrap them because the lead was setting off the detectors. He DID feel bad about it though. Wish I had known about this prior to rewrap the ornaments…but now I do know. Thank you so much for posting this!
This was such a great help. It took me a few tries but I got it almost as perfect as they do that the store. Thanks!!
I’m so glad I found your site!! It was so easy to rewrap the gift I had ordered online for my Mom’s 50th birthday…I wanted to take a peek and thank goodness your site helped me retie the bow! Simple instructions and awesome pics…Thanks a million!
You are awesome! I opened the gift to make sure thr engraving was right and thought I could re tie the bow…..but as we all know, that doesn’t work.
Thanks so much for the instructions!!!
OMG! Thanks so much…. I bought necklace for my friend today and I was so eager to see it again right now when I am sitting at home. So, I opened and couldn’t re-tie it until I found these instructions. I knew their were instructions to a Tiffany bow.
YAY! Now, my friend won’t know that I opened it…lol; until I tell her…:)
by accident, loosened up a present from Tiffany and Co…had to carefully on low iron setting, iron the Tiffany ribbon and then find out how to tie the unmistakeable Tiffany signature bow..thank you..worked out and looks better than when it was delivered to me!!!
this website was perfect!! Thank you so much! I can give my best friend her bridal shower present the way I bought it BEFORE I got the engraving on it.
my boss used to work at tiffanys so we are supposed to wrap all the gifts at our shop with a tiffany bow. she showed me once and told me to practice, and practice i did but had no luck until i decided to to turn to the internet. thanks!
Thank you so much for posting this!
Like many of the above I wanted to have a sneek peek at the item before giving it to my girlfriend, only to discover that re-tying the bow was not the simple task i had invisaged! Without these instructions I would have gone slowly mad trying to work it out myself, so thank you again!
I just want to say thank you, so so much … this has saved a very very embarassing situation with opening a box not meant to be opened yet!!
Thank you so much. Because of your directions, my present looks perfect!
Like everyone else has said, Thanks a million! I’m helping a friend of mine orchestrate the various events of his anniversary and he opened the box. He and one of his buddies have spent part of today and yesterday trying to retie it. These instructions are a lifesaver!
Awesome! Now my presents will look great.
My girlfriend is a martial arts instructor, and to celebrate our anniversary, I wanted to get her a meaningful necklace from Tiffany’s. Needless to say, a lima bean wouldn’t suffice. I bought a plain silver chain from Tiffany’s and stupidly had it gift wrapped before I put the custom-made ninja star pendant on…Thanks to your instructions, Tiffany will make a very special girl very happy, and save me from a karate chop across the face because the bow looked crappy… Words cannot express my gratitude!
Got my girlfriend a ring, giving it to her next week, had to look. I actually thought about the bow and couldn’t help myself. Took me a few tries, but thanks to you, got it to look pretty again
can someone please explain these to me more clearly??
i need some help with these steps. i can get to the last step with no problems but when it says to wrap the short end around the loop and push through the opening, i can’t seem to figure out how to get the bow correct!! any help please? btw these instructions are great i just wish i was more artistically inclined because i cant figure this out lol
THESE DIRECTIONS SUCKK THEY ARE NOT HELPINGG ITS TOO HARD
I get stuck at “Tuck working end under and around both ribbons”.
Could you give a bit more description or a better pic at this stage it seem to skip a step so I get lost.
How hard could it be to tie a little satin bow…Rigghht. Thank you I have received several gifts from Tiffany’s over the years and have never been able to retie the bow.
Like everyone else I was either sneaking a peek or opened a gift to be given (3 Christmas gifts brought me here tonight)and was then unable to retie it.
The next time I undress a robin’s egg blue box I just may thank my husband by having him untie me with one subtle motion.
Unbelievable how much this was driving me crazy. I swear i must of tried every knot and tie under the sun to get this looking like it did when it arrived.
Really great instructions and who would of thought such a simple bow tying experience can cause so much frustration.
Thank You so much
Although i am sure my girlfriend wont appreciate the bow half as much as the gifts inside the boxes
I was going to wait to give the keyring to my daughter to see what it looked like – of course I couldn’t. I don’t think the re-tie is perfect, but without your directions it would look like a three year old retied the ribbon!!!
Thanks!!!!!
Hell… I figured with my luck it would be a challenge to retie it, but didn’t figure it would be that hard. I got to see the ring and now she will never know!
Thanks to the author of these wonderul instructions and to Google for bringing them to my laptop!
thanks, This helped a lot. i bought a gift for my girlfriend from there, so i was curious to see it again, so i opened it. i was even carefull to see how it was tied , so i could re-tie it again.
im sure she wont even bother looking at the bow, but at least it makes the gift look presentable again..lol
FANTASTIC! I Got it!! My friend & I were wrapping Chrtistmas presents last night and i told her i could never figure out how to tie a Tiffany’s bow. Well, she found your website & told me about it! I’m such a happy camper…however now i want to re-wrap all the gifts just so i can have the bows the right way! Thank you Sarah and thanks to you guys for posting this… It has made my day! Now everyone can have Happy Wrapping!
Awesome job! I unwrapped a gift to make sure that the engraving was correct and I could not figure out how to retie the bow! Your posting is a life saver. Thanks a whole bunch!
lol!! i just opened a valentines gift i got my boyfriend and i didnt know how to tie it back!!! ur a lifesaver. lol haha!! thanks so much!
Same old story. Boy meets girl. Boy buys girl tiffany ear rings. Boy opens box to check them out. Boy can’t put box back together.
Thank you so much. This absolutely saved me hours of frustration.
It’s a 90 degree angle, not 45.
Hi DADDY!
